This loot list is dedicated for helping you gear up your shaman as best as possible. This list includes all Azeroth (pre-Burning
Crusade) loot up to patch 2.3, but no end-game content or Outland gear. The list is split into the following parts:
Please note: This list is by no means a "shaman's have exclusive rights to this" equip list. Please be considerate of
your group members and respect loot rules. You will most likely be in direct competition with the druid until lvl 40, and your
talent tree choices will probably put you in competition with other classes.
New for 1.10, The Five Thunders shaman set is obtained by completing a long series of quests
which will upgrade your Elements set. You will need the corresponding elements set piece for each step in the upgrade process.
This offensive caster tree provides extremely potent damage but high downtime, making it mediocre early on, but sharply more
useful once you reach Outland due to itemization. Spell pushback will be the bane of your existance soloing, but luckily you'll
usually do enough big damage before enemies close in melee range. Many leveling Shaman wait until 58/60 to respec to this tree
although it is certainly viable to level all the way with; just brings lots and lots of water with you.
Enhancement is a hugely popular leveling tree due to it's low downtime and high damage potential. Like any melee-based class
weapon selection is paramount to overall performance; the tree-defining dual-wield talent should be acquired as soon as possible
as while you'll lose some burst damage weilding a 2-hander, you'll gain a large amount of sustained dps. The mechanics of Windfury
favor slow weapons and you'll always want to try and pickup 2.60 speed main and off-hand weapons when possible. Frostbrand should
be used instead of Windfury on the off-hand if you cannot find a 2.4 or slower weapon due to the very convoluted nature of Windfury
mechanics.
Restoration, like all healing centric trees, is a high survivability build with low damage potential. Few level with Restoration
unless they plan on heavily grouping / instancing and the Restoration tree requires a great deal of points invested in it to really
shine.
