Last Update: 11.7.06
Preface: These raid lists are setup differently from the standard class lists. Here you will find raid loot for
The Temple of Ahn'Qiraj (AQ40) as of patch 2.0 sorted by the following sections:
All sections are setup as a matrix of the item in question vs a classes value for use. A 5-star rating for each of the listed
general class roles are represented in each item cell to give a rough estimate of how much you may wish to bid on a particular item.
For guilds using these lists as a guideline for loot priority please keep the following in mind:
- Almost certainly if you are raiding there will be no "rolling" on loot, rather you will most likely be
"bidding" on the loot through some kind of DKP system (google is your friend if you don't know what DKP is). Know that there
are a huge variety of DKP systems; some will only allow certain classes to roll, others open rolling to all, others place a
DKP penalty for items which rank lower for that particular class. These lists are for both players and raid leaders to
help determine who drops what, how valued the item is, and how well it benefits the raid group.
- These lists are not just about what works best for a specific build, but for raid progression as a whole;
an item may benefit one class significantly more then another so item ratings take into consideration multiple criteria;
enhancement to the primary class role, available alternatives for your class and other classes, the benefit to raid
progression, and comparative gain against other classes to name a few.
- Since raid progression is at the core of these ratings you will notice that "archetype" classes
will get preference on certain items which some may feel equally benefit certain speciality classes (rogues are an archetype
DPS class where as feral druids are a speciality DPS class; both can provide solid melee DPS but rogues are only able to DPS,
where druids do multiple class roles). Archetype classes will always get higher ratings on cross-benefit items, however,
once these archetypes begin getting gear it will be very likely that bidding will open to speciality classes.
- Not every sub-class is listed but they are represented in the ratings (for example, an offensive casting
balance druid and a healing restoration druid are both categorized under the druid caster icon). Like the above archetype
discussion, these merged ratings take in to account the same raid progession benefit criteria (a healing staff will yeild a
higher rating then a spellpower staff for a caster druid since mages/warlocks cannot benefit from healing gear and a balance
druid is a specialty class).
- Finally, there is no "correct" answer to a loot methodology and this system is just a guideline to what many
guilds have already done. Guild leaders may use all, some, or none of the ratings here and may adjust these as seen fit. I
would encourage players and raid officers to e-mail me if they feel any of these
ratings are out of line.
